Fela! Miami | Adrienne Arsht Center

Come on and join the celebration as the Tony winning musical ‘Fela!’ comes to Miami for a week-long run at the Ziff Ballet Opera House of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts from March 19 to 24, 2013.

‘Fela!’ is a musical based on the story of real life Nigerian activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti. To the government, he was the face of opposition; to his fellow countrymen, he was a cultural and socio-political hero, a hero who used his musical gifts to conceive Afrobeat, an ingenious musical invention that features soulful up-tempo beats and rhythms to the tune of jazz, funk and African harmonies. Fela’s rich and colorful biography is chronicled and choreographed through the free-spirited and vibrant Afrobeat sounds, resulting to a vivid musical celebrating life, freedom and love. The musical features the Tony winning choreography of Bill T. Jones who also helmed the show on Broadway.

‘Fela!’ is one of two season specials Broadway in Miami has to offer for the 2012-2013 season. The performance running time is 2 hours 30 minutes with no intermission.
