American Idiot Philadelphia | Merriam Theater

American Idiot Philadelphia | Merriam Theater

‘American Idiot’ comes to Philadelphia in February 2013, from the 12th to the 17th, and will be staged at the Merriam Theater at the Kimmel Center as part of its national tour.

‘American Idiot’ is a modern-day existential saga of three twenty-something guys whose comfortable suburban living were shaken after the atrocities of the 9/11 attacks. All of a sudden, as America prepares to go to the Middle East in what has been a decade-long standoff against terrorists, the lives of these three lifelong buddies as well as the rest of America have changed. Safety is no longer predicated on the absence of danger for danger now lurks everywhere, from the busiest of streets such as New York City, to the most blissful and coziest of areas, like modern suburbia. Times have been unpredictable and it is with this conclusion that Johnny, Will and Tunny have realized that nothing is what it seems – existence is immeasurable, intangible and very temporary, intelligence and power will always be challenged, and even the most prepared, most ahead, strongest and smartest of nations can be brought to its knees and can look like an idiot in a mere game-changing moment. And that moment will have dramatic life-changing consequences for each and every American. The performance running time is 1 hours and 35 minutes with no intermission.
